3rd Aviation & Environment Summit

Information on 2006 Summit

This website provides information about the 2nd Aviation & Environment Summit, held on 25-26 April 2006. More than 300 aviation leaders from 40 countries met in Geneva, to renew the environmental strategy they had adopted at the 1st Summit one year previously and to strengthen their collective action to reduce noise and emissions from air transport.

The Summit, which is co-organised under ATAG"s umbrella, with IATA for the airlines, ACI for the airports, CANSO as the air navigation service provider organisation and ICCAIA representing the airframe and engine manufacturers, agreed that technology is key to further progress. More efficient engines and lighter materials are emerging, together with environmentally-friendly biofuels that could also be part of the solution.
